Solar Two Chinese state-owned firms establish PV venture
Chinese state-owned companies Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Group and Shaanxi Electronic Information Group have invested CNY 1bn (USD 146m) to set up a PV joint venture in Shaanxi Province.
The investment will be used as the registered capital of the PV venture. The two parties in July 2009 signed an agreement to spend CNY 20bn (USD 2.9bn) to develop an integrated solar chain with a total production capacity of 2GW by the end of 2015, and aim to generate sales of CNY 50bn (USD 7.3bn).
The joint venture, Shaanxi Photovoltaic, will be engaged in wafer slicing as well as research and development, production and sales of polysilicon, monocrystalline silicon, polysilicon ingots, PV cells and modules, and ancillary PV products and equipment. It also plans to develop PV power generation projects.

  On 31 January 2010, Cosan and Royal Dutch Shell agreed to create a joint venture for the production of ethanol, sugar and power, and the supply, distribution and retail of transportation fuels.
